Pursuing your deepest passion is no easy task. It can be wearisome at times. This post is exactly what it says it is. I’ve put together 15 inspirational quotes about following your dreams just in case you needed some encouragement! I’m rooting for you! We are in this together.
- “A year from now you may wish you had started today.” —Karen Lamb
Start today. No matter how small or insignificant your steps may seem when compared to the big picture. The sooner you begin, the sooner you’ll get wherever it is you’re hoping to go. Don’t wait for the perfect circumstances because they are nonexistent. The timing will never feel right. You will never feel completely ready.
Try to do at least one thing every single day that will get you closer to your dreams.
2. “Follow your own passion. Not your parents. Not your teachers. Yours.” —Robert Ballard
It’s easy to get wrapped up in doing what everybody else wants you to do. However, it’s important to follow YOUR passions and do the things YOU love doing. Heed the advice of those you trust and who have your best interest in mind, but ultimately, do what is best for YOU and what will make YOU happiest!
You know what keeps you awake at night…so go do that.
3. “Once in a while it really hits people that they don’t have to experience the world in the way they have been told.” —Alan Keightley
Don’t allow the world to limit your vision and imagination. Give yourself permission to dream and explore your options. It’s okay to take risks and dream big, abnormal dreams. Learn about the world in the way you see fit. Get the full effect.
Dare to experience the world in a way that’s unlike anybody else.
4. “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra.” —Jimmy Johnson
You’ve got to be willing to do the little, tedious things. They will make you want to rip your hair out at times but it’s the little things you do, day in and day out, that make a difference. Don’t settle for mediocrity. Go the extra mile.
Be willing to do the hard things others are unwilling to do because it will pay off in the long run.
5. “Always make a total effort, even when the odds are against you.” —Arnold Palmer
Your circumstances are not always going to be ideal. Don’t allow yourself to be defeated before you ever begin. Even if your situation seems hopeless, give 100% of yourself. Make sure you can be proud of how hard you worked, regardless of the outcome.
Don’t let the quantity of the obstacles hinder the quality of your fight.
6. “Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.” —John Maxwell
You’re not always going to win and that’s okay. Learn from the mistakes, the lessons, and the hard times. Let them shape you and better you for the next go-around.
Your failures don’t define you; refusing to learn from those failures does.
7. “Champions keep playing until they get it right.” —Billie Jean King
You’re not going to be the best right away. Everybody has to start out somewhere. All the professionals you know were once beginners. In order to be successful, you’ve got to keep practicing and keep perfecting your skill…and you’ve got to do that over, and over, and over again.
Put in the required effort to ensure you’re doing it the way it’s supposed to be done, not in a way that will suffice.
8. “There are no short cuts to any place worth going.” —Beverly Sills
Choose the goal and accept the journey that comes with it. Nothing worth having comes easy. If you want something, be willing to do whatever it takes to get it. The journey WILL take time.
Be in it for the long-haul, not the handouts.
9. “It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark.” —Howard Ruff
The journey unfolds along the way. You have to begin before you can get to the good stuff. Noah knew what he was called to do and he did it without knowing what was to come (or if it would really come). He didn’t need proof. He just did it with anticipation.
Anticipate the dream and prepare yourself for what lies ahead.
10. “If you aren’t going all the way, why go at all?” —Joe Namath
Don’t do something half-heartedly. Ever. If you’re going to commit, be all in. If you’re unwilling to give something everything you’ve got, you’re wasting everyone’s time. So either be all in or get out.
There is great satisfaction to be found knowing you gave something everything you had.
11. “Anyone who has ever made anything of importance was disciplined.” —Andrew Hendrixson
You’ve got to discipline yourself. Nobody is going to do it for you. This is one of the most important aspects on the journey to success because without it, you’ve got nothing.
Either discipline yourself and achieve your dreams or watch the disciplined achieve their dreams.
12. “Remember to celebrate milestones as you prepare for the road ahead.” —Nelson Mandela
CELEBRATE THE LITTLE VICTORIES. Take time along the journey to be proud of yourself and the work you’ve accomplished thus far. Appreciate the small, but very important, moments along the road because they are what help you get through the hard times.
Don’t ever underestimate the power of small wins.
13. “Don’t spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door.” —Coco Chanel
Use discernment and know when it’s time to walk away and take a different path or find a different door. Not every path is meant to be your path. Don’t keep trying to avoid a path by hoping to form another. There is a time and place for that…but that’s rare. Accept what is and figure out a different way.
Be willing to take routes you don’t want to take…because those are usually the most beautiful and most adventures paths anyway.
14. “If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan, but never the goal.” —Author Unknown
Again, learn to be okay with changing directions. A specific path didn’t turn out the way you expected it to. So what? That doesn’t mean you’re doomed. Don’t throw in the towel because your circumstances aren’t ideal.
Keep the goal in mind and just find another way to get there.
15. “A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.” —Author Unknown
Be willing to get your hands dirty. DO NOT BECOME COMPLACENT. Challenge yourself and step outside your comfort zone. Embrace the unknown and face your fears for once in your life. Take risks. Find yourself.
Believe it or not, there IS life outside of your comfort zone so go find it.
