My One Word for 2017

My One Word for 2017

Have you guys ever heard of My One Word for 2017? If not…

“The My One Word challenge is simple: lose the long list of changes you want to make this year and instead pick one word that represents what you most hope God will do in you in the year ahead.

This process forces clarity and results in focus.

It’s okay to want to be a better you—the question is, how? My One Word replaces broken promises with a vision for real change. When you choose a single word, you have a single focus. You are moving toward the future rather than swearing off the past.

Change is possible, but focus is required. So pick just ONE WORD.”

My one word for 2017 is steward.

Right now, I’m working to develop a routine that enables me to be a good steward of my time, gifts, and passions. There are a lot of things I need to figure out and work through this year. No matter the twists and turns that may appear down the road, I want to steward those three things well.

We can’t escape change but we can work with it and grow with it.

Whether working, speaking, blogging, or socializing, I want to steward my time, gifts, and passions well. How I steward the things that are important to me is my responsibility.

The best way to do this may not always be clear, but it’s worth figuring out. Regardless of my circumstances, I want to be all in and give my very best.  If it’s placed in my hands or in my heart, I need to take care of it.

So, that’s my one word for 2017.

My One Word for 2017

What about you?

What’s your one word for 2017?

Think about your own journey and look ahead at what’s to come.

Where is your path taking you? In what ways do you need to challenge yourself more? Will you have to make some big life decisions? Sacrifices? How can you love better? Where are you struggling? Is it your faith? Trust? Career? Your relationships?

Only you know what’s going on inside that head and heart of yours.

Don’t choose your word based off what other people are choosing. It should represent the type of person YOU want to be and the life YOU want to live.

Here are a few ideas in case you’re not sure where to start:

  • Pursue
  • Simplify
  • Patience
  • Risk
  • Dream
  • Sacrifice
  • Purpose
  • Discover
  • Wait
  • Act
  • Embrace
  • Release

Again, only you know what needs to change. Be honest with yourself. Pick a word that will force you to live outside your comfort zone…one that will push you towards a better you.

Think. Pray. Apply.
