12 Christian Songs for Difficult Times

Songs for Difficult Times

I’ve been talking about some HEAVY STUFF the past week and thought I’d take a step back to give us both some time to BREATHE. So, I put together a list of songs for difficult times.

For someone who talks a lot, I can’t always find the words to say. Lately, I’ve been letting these songs do the talking for me.

If you’re in a rough spot, I hope you’ll take the time to listen to these songs! They don’t hide the hurt or shove it under the rug. They do the total opposite.

1. Thy Will by Hillary Scott

I’m so confused
I know I heard you loud and clear
So, I followed through
Somehow I ended up here
I don’t wanna think
I may never understand
That my broken heart is a part of your plan
When I try to pray
All I’ve got is hurt and these four words
Thy will be done

2. Trust in You by Laura Daigle

When You don’t move the mountains
I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters
I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers
As I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You

3. Even If by MercyMe

It’s easy to sing
When there’s nothing to bring me down
But what will I say
When I’m held to the flame
Like I am right now
I know You’re able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone

4. There’s A Light by Todd Smith

I was a doubting broken man

I put the whole in your hand

But I’m the one You have redeemed

You set me free

There’s a light at the end of the troubles

There is hope for those who believe

There is peace that flows like a river

Jesus Christ has set us free

Songs for Difficult Times

5. Dear Younger Me by MercyMe

Dear younger me
Where do I start
If I could tell you everything that I have learned so far
Then you could be
One step ahead
Of all the painful memories still running thru my head
I wonder how much different things would be
Dear younger me

6. The Well by JJ Heller

You are the well that never runs dry

7. Testify by NEEDTOBREATHE

Give me your heart give me your song
Sing it with all your might
Come to the fountain and
You can be satisfied
There is a peace, there is a love
You can get lost inside
Come to the fountain and
Let me hear you testify

8. Good, Good Father by Chris Tomlin

I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching
For answers only you provide
‘Cause you know just what we need
Before we say a word

9. My Lighthouse by Rend Collective

In my wrestling and in my doubts
In my failures You won’t walk out
Your great love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea

10. Oceans by Hillsong United

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now
So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

11. If We’re Honest by Francesca Battistelli

I’m a mess and so are you
We’ve built walls nobody can get through
Yeah, it may be hard, but the best thing we could ever do, ever do

Bring your brokenness, and I’ll bring mine
‘Cause love can heal what hurt divides
And mercy’s waiting on the other side
If we’re honest
If we’re honest

12. Hold You Up by Shane Harper

When it’s coming apart, you had it all
It wasn’t enough. No, it’s not enough
They tell you it’s not worth the price, so just let it go
But you know you can’t, you know you won’t
It’s not easy, no
Finding the words to say
When you’re feeling lost, you’ll find your way
